Symphytum

Homeopathic remedy for

Injuries to sinews, tendons and the periosteum. It acts on joints generally. Neuralgia of the knee. This remedy is often used for wounds penetrating to the perineum and bones. Symphytum stimulates callus formation in fractures and helps with bones that will not fuse (non-union of fractures).

Symphytum (comfrey) stimulates the growth of epithelium (the cell tissue that covers the outer surface of the body and the mucous membranes), so it can be used to assist in the treatment of any
injury involving joints or tendons. It lessens pain.

The root contains a crystalline solid, that stimulates the growth of epithelium on ulcerated surfaces. It can be used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Note: Symphytum is a great homeopathic remedy to accelerate healing of fractures 'after' the bone has been set. It is so effective that you should make sure the broken bone is aligned correctly before starting the remedy (only give Symphytum after the bone has been positioned to heal).

Irritable stump after amputation (phantom pain in amputee patients), irritable bone at point of fracture. Psoas (muscles that run from the lumbar spine through the groin, that flex the hip) abscess. Inflammation or fracture of the lower jaw bone, hard, red, swelling.

After a knock or
blow to the eye involving injury to soft tissues this would be the remedy of choice. For traumatic injuries of the eyes no remedy equals Symphytum! For a black eye from soft tissue damage, use Ledum instead.

Homeopathic Symphytum (Comfrey) is a totally safe way to receive the benefits of the herb Comfrey internally, because in homeopathic potency, it no long contains any of the plants naturally occurring, pyrrolizidine alkaloids which are thought to be damaging to the liver.
